The patron saint of parish priests, Saint John Vianney was a French priest renowned for his piety and devotion to the Eucharist and the Blessed Mother. The effects of anti-Catholic bias in 19th-century France weighed heavily on him as a youth. His personal testimony brought many people back to the Sacraments. He worked to revitalize the Church’s presence, becoming a sought-after cleric and confessor. He was canonized on May 31, 1925.
