High above the altar the Crucified Christ reigns. It is a reminder of the sacrifice of the Lord for our redemption. On the Cross, Christ unites his suffering with ours. On the Cross, the Lord reconciles sinners. Saint Paul references the prophet’s question, “Oh death where is thy sting?” (1 Corinthians 15:55) Christ’s victory replaces this finality with the promise of everlasting life for those who believe in him. The new crucifix, as well as all the statuary, were designed, carved and crafted by artisans of the Stuflesser company, located in Ortisei, Italy.
