Crafted of the same Italian marble as the rest of the sanctuary, it is from the ambo that the Word of God is proclaimed, to inspire and to teach. Likewise, the stand, which sits in the lower sanctuary, is where the cantor leads the congregation to “sing to the Lord a new song.” (Psalm 96:1) The front of the ambo reveals the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, Alpha and Omega, reminding all that the Word of God, like Our Lord himself, is eternal.
